General information

Galerie Mikael Andersen blev etableret i København i 1989 og har siden da præsenteret udstillinger af dansk og international samtidskunst. I 2014 markerede udstillingen "Günther Förg - Ubuntu" galleriets 25 års jubilæum.

Galleriets profil hviler på en række etablerede danske og internationale kunstnere, som brød frem på 80'ernes og 90'ernes kunstscene, heriblandt Martin Kippenberger, Isa Genzken, Albert Oehlen, Cosima von Bonin og Günther Förg. Inspireret af den aktive og dynamiske dialog med repræsentanter fra den tyske kunstverden, udvidede Galerie Mikael Andersen med et galleri i Berlin mellem 2007 og 2014. Galleriet har fortsat et særligt fokus på at støtte lovende, unge kunstnere og samarbejder i dag med flere yngre kunstnere bosiddende i København og Berlin. Galleriet repræsenterer den sydafrikanske avantgardemaler Ernest Mancoba (1904-2002) og hans danske kone, skulptøren Sonja Ferlov Mancoba (1911-1984).

Galerie Mikael Andersen was established in Copenhagen in 1989 and has since then presented exhibitions of Danish and international contemporary art. In 2014 the exhibition "Günther Förg - Ubuntu" marked the gallery’s 25th anniversary.

The profile of the gallery relies on a number of established Danish and International artists that emerged on the art scene in the eighties and nineties such as Martin Kippenberger, Isa Genzken, Albert Oehlen, Cosima von Bonin and Günther Förg. Inspired by this active and dynamic dialogue with representatives of the German art world, Galerie Mikael Andersen expanded with a gallery in Berlin between 2007 and 2014. The gallery continues to put great emphasis on supporting young, emerging artists and today works with a number of young artists based in Copenhagen and Berlin.
The gallery is representing the estates of the South African avant-garde painter Ernest Mancoba (1904 - 2002) and his Danish wife, the sculptor Sonja Ferlov Mancoba (1911-1984).
