Göteborgs stadsmuseum ligger i Ostindiska huset från 1750-talet och har en av Sveriges största kulturhistoriska samlingar. Museets utställningar och programutbud berättar stadens historia och samtid och lyfter frågor inom aktuell stadsplanering och arkeologi.

Museum of Gothenburg has a unique home - the Swedish East India Company building from the 1750s. Our exhibitions tells the story of Gothenburg from prehistoric times to the present day - a trip through 12,000 years of history.

Get inspired by the colourful ideas that characterized the city in the 18th century, take a look at Sweden’s only preserved Viking ship, and be amazed by the contrast between bourgeois life and the trade union struggle of the 19th century. We also have temporary exhibitions throughout the year that deal with contemporary issues in the city, and a diverse programme of activities.
